カペリンは依然北方海域に
Capelin Remain in Northern Waters

MFRI（アイスランド海洋研究所）が発表したところによると、2026年1月上旬に実施された調査の結果、カペリンは依然としてアイスランド北方海域を中心に分布しており、産卵回遊はまだ初期段階にあることが確認された。
研究船 Árni Friðriksson による約1週間の調査では、群れの先端はランガネス北東沖で確認されたものの量は限られており、一方で大陸棚縁に沿ってコルベインセイヤルフリュッグ周辺およびその西側では比較的高い密度が観測された。
悪天候や海氷の影響により、西方海域や西フィヨルド沖での調査は一部制限されたが、これらの結果を踏まえ、来週末以降に複数船舶による資源量の全体測定が予定されている。

According to an announcement by the Marine and Freshwater Research Institute of Iceland (MFRI), survey results from early January 2026 confirm that capelin remain primarily in the northern waters of Iceland and that their spawning migration is still at an early stage.
During a survey lasting about one week, the research vessel Árni Friðriksson observed that the leading edge of the stock was located northeast of Langanes, although only in small quantities. In contrast, relatively high densities of capelin were detected along the continental shelf edge extending to the Kolbeinsey Ridge and west of it.
Adverse weather conditions and sea ice limited further investigation in western areas and on the Westfjords fishing grounds. Based on these findings, a full stock assessment survey involving multiple vessels is scheduled to begin after the coming weekend.
