アイスランドのシシャモ資源量回復、2025/26年漁期の漁獲枠は約19.7万トンに増加
Icelandic Capelin Stock Recovery: 2025/26 Catch Quota Increased to Approximately 197,000 Tons

アイスランド海洋淡水研究所（Hafrannsóknastofnun）は、2026年1月19日から25日に実施した冬季調査の結果をもとに、2025/2026年漁期におけるシシャモ（Capelin）の漁獲助言量を19万7,474トンに引き上げると発表した。

今回の調査では、5隻の調査船が参加し、アイスランド北西部から東部沖にかけて広範囲をカバー。天候や海氷の影響はほとんどなく、良好な条件で観測が行われた。調査の結果、漁獲対象となる資源量は約71万トンと推定され、そのうち約54％がアイスランド東側海域、約46％が北西側海域に分布していることが確認された。

特に北西側に分布するシシャモについては、今後どの海域で産卵するかが不明確であるため、研究所は東側だけでなく北部海域でも分散して漁獲を行うことを推奨している。なお、この回遊経路の不確実性については、2月に追加調査が予定されている。

The Marine and Freshwater Research Institute of Iceland (Hafrannsóknastofnun) announced that, based on the results of a winter survey conducted from January 19 to 25, 2026, the recommended catch limit for capelin in the 2025/2026 fishing season has been increased to 197,474 tons.

The survey involved five research vessels and covered a wide area from northwest to east of Iceland. Survey conditions were favorable, with neither weather nor sea ice having a significant impact on the observations. As a result, the total exploitable stock biomass was estimated at approximately 710,000 tons, with about 54% distributed east of Iceland and 46% northwest of the country.

Regarding the capelin distributed northwest of Iceland, their spawning migration route remains uncertain. It is unclear whether they will spawn west of Iceland after passing Cape Hornstrandir, spawn north of the country, or follow the traditional migration route east of Iceland. Due to this uncertainty, the Institute recommends that fishing activities be distributed across northern waters as well, rather than concentrating solely on the stock already present east of Iceland. Additional research to clarify migration patterns is scheduled for February.
