Japan's Fish and Seafood Imports (HS-03): 39 Years of Changing Supplier Rankings, 1988–August 2026

財務省「貿易統計」を基に、1988年から2026年8月までの日本の魚類輸入金額を国・地域別に集計し、その累計金額による上位15カ国・地域のランキングの変遷を、Bar Chart Race（動く棒グラフ）で可視化した。

本動画では、各国の輸入金額が年々積み上がる様子とともに、主要供給国の順位がどのように入れ替わってきたのかを確認できる。

長年にわたる日本の魚類輸入の歴史を、国別の累計輸入金額という視点から振り返る。

『データについて』

本動画は、財務省「貿易統計」のHS第03類（魚並びに甲殻類、軟体動物及びその他の水棲無脊椎動物）を対象としている。

HS第16類に分類される魚類・甲殻類等の調製品及び保存食料品は含まれていない。

各年の金額は1988年から当該年までの累計輸入金額であり、単年の輸入金額ではない。また、2026年のデータは1月から8月までの集計値である。

なお、本動画は輸入金額に基づくランキングであり、輸入数量の順位を示すものではない。

Using data from the Trade Statistics of Japan published by the Ministry of Finance, we have created a Bar Chart Race illustrating changes in the rankings of Japan’s top 15 import sources by cumulative import value from 1988 through August 2026.

The animation shows how cumulative import values have grown over time and how the rankings of major supplying countries and territories have shifted.

It provides a visual overview of the long-term evolution of Japan’s seafood imports, based on cumulative import value by country and territory.

About the Data

This animation covers products classified under HS Chapter 03, including fish, crustaceans, molluscs, and other aquatic invertebrates.

Prepared or preserved fish and seafood products classified under HS Chapter 16 are excluded.

The figures represent cumulative import values from 1988 up to each respective year, rather than annual import values.

Data for 2026 cover January through August only.

The rankings are based on import value, not import volume.
